Rio Serrano : riding : Tyndall Glacier Viewpoint

6-8 hours.

Leaving the campsite early we head west following the Rio Serrano. This river is spectacular, converging with Rio Grey half a mile from the campsite. We pass many beautiful areas, including crossing the Rio Nutria and Salto falls. At Salto we head off across flat pampas – perfect for those who want to canter!

For the next couple of hours we spend time riding over pampas, through ancient hawthorn forest and crossing some rivers! We then have a truly amazing ride along the black sandy shore of the Rio Serrano. At the end of this, we stop for a snack at a deserted gaucho hut where you can explore, eat or just relax in the daisy-strewn grassland.

After this relaxing break we head off, across Rio brush and we climb up through grassy woodlands to the Tyndall Glacier viewpoint. Here we stop for a rest, snack and photos.

We return the way we came, which is a good thing - you can reassure yourself that the ride wasn't a dream - that this special place is actually real!

From the Rio Serrano campsite you can arrange for transport to all the areas of interest in the Torres del Paine National Park.
