2-days (with overnight stay at Lago Brush)
Leaving early from the campsite we follow the Rio Serrano passing many interesting areas such as the meeting point of the Rio Serrano and Rio Grey, the Rio Nutria, Salto falls and ancient hawthorn forests.
After approximately one hour we start heading south into an area rarely visited by anyone. We follow a trail through woodlands glimpsing some spectacular views of the mountains to the north. The chance of seeing anyone in this area is extremely rare.
The ride is exciting in parts but should not put non-riders off as the ride is tailored so that even the most inexperienced rider will feel safe and at ease.
This spectacular day ends on the shore of Lago Brush - a lakeside paradise that we will have all to ourselves.
Here we unpack the horses and find a pitch for our tents amongst the daisies, right next to the shore of the lake.
A small hut (still utilised by the gauchos who work in this area) is the perfect place for dinner and while a well-deserved dinner is being prepared you can watch the sunset over the lake with a Pisco Sour!
Day two and we pack up the tents and head off riding down the valley between the Glaciar Chacabuco on the east and Glaciars Serrano and Balmaceda to the west.
Today we find that the landscape changes from grassy woodland and hawthorn forests to lower lying scrub and lenga woodland. This allows us some amazing views across the valley of this fabulous area, which is completely untouched and at times feels like complete wilderness.
After a few hours we stop for a drink and a snack before finishing our ride at the Hosteria y Camping Glaciar Balmaceda.
Forward bookings can be arranged for accommodation at this beautiful spot and the ferry back to Puerto Natales can be caught here. Also available are kayaking excursions and trips to the Glaciar Serrano.
